The first day at school can be a terrifying prospect, even if you are an A-list actress, so spare a thought for little Emma Watson who's just enrolled at university – Oxford University, no less! To mark the auspicious occasion, the Harry Potter star shared a personal pic on her official website, EmmaWatson.com. No, she's not downing a pint of snakebite OR dressed as a naughty nurse at the Freshers disco. In fact, she's looking typically adorable armed with a stack of books and ready to enter Hogwarts Oxford.
Emma Watson on her first day at Oxford University
'To Everyone who is starting a New School Year, (sorry those who have been at school for a while Oxford starts late),' Emma writes, 'Just to say have a great term and good luck with all your work. You might not hear from me for a while because I will be really busy studying but I wanted to just say hi and bye : ) Hope you all like 'My Week with Marilyn' and i'll keep you posted on 'Perks'. Love Emma xx'.
So what's Ms Watson chosen to wear for Uni Day One? A flouncy frock from her pal Karl Lagerfeld? A wizard's cape and broomstick, perhaps? Or maybe a studded Burberry trench? Nope, Emma wisely went the non-glitzy, People Tree-esque route with a fur-lined khaki coat over a plaid shirt + jeans, topped off with clompy black biker boots and a perky smile. Thumbs up indeed!
Emma wears Oscar de la Renta for the London premiere of Harry Potter
After studying at Brown University in America, we're delighted to see the 21-year-old back on home turf and studying for a year at the UK's finest academic institution. Emma abandoned her Ivy League ambitions earlier this year when juggling a degree clashed with her acting commitments – admittedly, we'd prefer swooping down the red carpet in Oscar De La Renta to sitting through another boresome seminar on Chaucer. So Emma now joins the likes of Kate Beckinsale, Hugh Grant and Chelsea Clinton who studied at the very same uni and as Lily Cole and Natalie Portman have already proved, brains and beauty under the papazzari glare can be done.
So we wish you all the luck, Ms Watson, and pray you'll be spared any Katie Price-led lectures >shudders<
