An audible WHOOP whipped through Grazia HQ when our beloved Cheryl Cole finally joined the Twitterati earlier this year. 'It's me CC! WHERE MY SOLDIERS AT.......?!!!' she hollered to her loyal followers. Ever since, the popstrel has treated us to an insight into her post-X Factor world, from partying with Girls Alouders and Will.I.Am to revealing she’d like to be reborn as Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn ‘rolled into one’. God love her.
But it’s Chezza’s style snippets that have us most enthralled. Whether she’s drooling over a sparkly shoe, choosing bling for the red carpet, or showcasing a David Koma tee [above], we just can't get enough. Par exemple, the latest tweet that pricked up our fashion ears came directly from a photoshoot on Friday. 'No more High heels today.. PleeeaaaassSseeee.. :'(' Ms Cole wailed along with a shot of her sporting a snazzy pair of trousers:
Ooh, don't she look cute? We've yet to identify where the glistening green trews are from (answers on a postcard please) but we're rather fond of her fresh new look - from the ankles up, at least. Because gone are the skin-tight dresses or baggy combats and in their place are sleek trousers covered in quirky patterns teamed with classic basics for a, dare we say it, rockier edge.
So did Cheryl's new penchant for prints begin with Isabel Marant, we wonder? Here's our Chez arriving at LAX airport last week sporting a pair of jeans from Isabel Marant’s Autumn Winter 2011 collection (buy them for £395 at Net-a-Porter here). Yes, there’s no denying that neo-Navajo print has the X Factor but Chezza reassures us she's 'not trying to send out subliminal msgs to anybody through my jeans.. They just looked cool to me.. But since you mention it.. Du do do - do doodle oo do. Du do do - do doodle oo do. Du do do - do doodle oo do. DO DO DO - DO DO.. LMHO!!!!’
Umm, we don’t know EXACTLY what that means but a cheeky stab at Simon Cowell or no, turning to the luxe label is a wise move for the pint-sized Geordie. Ms Marant has become the designer du jour for that elusive French chic and counts a gaggle of stars as fans - just recently, Nicole Richie, Zoe Saldana and Hilary Duff made like Chezza by sporting the very same print.
THEN yesterday, Taio Cruz posted a picture of the 'beautiful miss Cheryl Cole' covered in, yep, more Marant - see the covetable boots and another splash of prints on that white skirt. So can we expect to see more pared-down Parisian cool from La Chez? And does her newfound love for Isabel Marant signal a sartorial step up? That's for you to decide…
