Here at Grazia Daily, we like to think of Olivia Palermo as a dear friend. Admittedly, a friend we watch with admiration and envy in equal measure and one we JUST. CAN'T. STOP. wanting to be but we love her all the same. And now our pal OP is opening up her wardrobe - and her fabulous world - via a brand new blog.
Yep, after much hype (and hyperventilating on our part), www.OliviaPalermo.com finally landed on the t’interweb this week. We woop! The glossy socialite has channeled all her style savvy, globe-trotting know-how and that FROWing eye into a one-stop haven covered in cutsey sketches by Tibi's Amy Smilovic.
The blog is packed with tips on what to wear, where to eat and who to know compiled by a staff of fifteen writers, including US Elle's Senior Accessories Editor Kyle Anderson and Ms Palermo as the Executive Editor/Creative Director (ooh, get her!).
'Focusing on the details, my editorial staff will take you on the task of turning jeans and a tee into a red carpet worthy look on a daily basis,' her first post reads. 'In this digital age where information - and fashion - moves faster each season, I hope that you will continue on this journey with me.' We will, we will!
So what’s on offer, you ask? Well, ‘Stepping into Spring!’ delivers Olivia’s view of London Fashion Week from her VIP viewpoint, beginning with her excitement at seeing the OP-inspired look in Matthew Williamson’s spring / summer 2012 collection (khaki blouse + embellished jacket + mustard yellow tailored trousers = Palermo perfection). Then she astutely takes us through her catwalk highlights, from Jonathan Saunders’ bell-sleeve day dress to Mulberry’s tie-dye gown with lace trim. SEE, she loves us too.
Plus, the style maven is kindly providing How To’s so us mere mortals can emulate her delicious style. How handy! The first installment sees her rocking leather shorts with ‘some tips to help you master this tricky trend’ - keep it casual, soften the edge and fall in style. Simples! No mention of how to get those leggy legs though…
Granted, Olivia may need to scrub up on her spelling (it’s Stubbs & Wootton not ‘Wooten’, dear) but typos aside, we reckon her online offering will be a mammoth success (we’re particularly looking forward to the guide on finding ‘the perfect brush at 2 a.m.’). And here’s hoping this will encourage MORE style icons to join the blog bandwagon a la Olivia, Gwyneth Paltrow and, of course, Anna Dello Russo. We're talking to you, Alexa Chung.
