There’s one issue that’s got Grazia HQ up in arms this morning. No, it’s not because the printer's on the brink - we are, of course, squabbling about this weekend’s X Factor. How agonizingly twisty was The Twist? Is Tulisa’s version of the Cheryl Salute fab or ridic? Is Gary sexier than Dermot? These are the questions that will plague our minds until Christmas time. And the one topic we will be returning to week after week is this: WHO was the Best Dressed Judge? It goes without saying that Mr Barlow is the suavest of them all and Louis Walsh is…well, we just don’t care, but what of the lovely ladies? Let the battle commence!
For Saturday night’s showdown, Kelly Rowland arrived on stage wearing a wonderful Atelier Versace frock that had us gasping from our sofas. What a brave choice! The flounces of neon green are SO on trend, the structured skirt is brilliantly quirky, and the Chinese-esque embellishments add just the right amount of glitz. She added a pair of sky-high Crisian & McCaffrey heels plus Lorraine Schwartz jewels – loving those earrings, momma! Yep, in the words of Ms Rowland, she put it DOOOWN! Our Facebook friends tend to agree, voting K-Row as the triumphant winner of Round One, despite comparisons to ‘a Dancing On Ice reject’…*ahem*
As for Tulisa, the N-Dubzer chose a beige A-line bandage dress for her first outing on the X Factor stage. This one’s from Herve Leger’s A/W’11 collection so inevitable parallels have been drawn with Tulisa’s predecessor Cheryl Cole who’s an avid fan of all things Leger, and those bouffanty curls only serve to amplify this. We do like the gladiatorial vibe of the dress, which certainly complements the judge’s tough girl edge but are those straps and metal details reminding anyone else of a parachute harness?
ANYWAY. Let’s move onto Sunday’s results show when Kelly was back on fabulous form with a corker of a gown. This time, she went for a more sophisticated glamour puss approach courtesy of this floor-length Roberto Cavalli concoction with a sexy slit up the front (natch). How exciting to see her bringing out the designer big guns! And we're only on Week One! Meanwhile, Tulisa opted for a thigh-skimming metallic mini-dress teamed with purple heels and pink lippy.
So what’s YOUR verdict for the first X Factor Fash-Off of 2011? WHO should be crowned Best Dressed Judge for Round One? Leave your comments in the box below and we’ll see you back here at the same time next week…
