Or so says an anonymous source to E! When quizzed about the possibility of Anna Wintour snagging Middleton for a cover for the US fashion tome, the source said (in almost impenetrable mock-regal language):
'"Kate is keenly conscious that while her new grandmother-in-law may not chide her for appearing on a Vogue cover.... she would definitely not be amused, and Her Majesty is a real genius at making people squirm with simply a look or a 'tut, tut."'
Hmm. We think what that means, if we look beyond the flounce, is that The Queen wouldn't like Kate to appear on the cover of a magazine (presumably she's been scarred by Diana, Charles and Fergie and their endless self-indulgent interviews throughout the course of the 90s.)
The other, arguably more interesting nugget to come from the E! article is that a senior royal aide - as opposed to say, a lowly royal aide - has suggested William and Kate might be up for having a more casual relationship with the press, saying:
'Both William and Kate are free to be interviewed or photographed by whomever they choose'. 'They are a modern, progressive couple and I'm sure there will be lighter exchanges with the media in the future'.
Imagine! More casual encounters = interviews, right? Imagine if we got to MEET her. We would die. DIE.
