We love it when any of our particular favourite London designers get a media boost – so we clapped our hands with glee when we spotted this picture of Lady Gaga in London, England this week. The green-tressed singer was snapped leaving her hotel and arriving at the ITV studios (another mystery we will investigate, don’t you worry) wearing Simone Rocha’s pretty perfect Spring Summer 2012 white lacy dress! We wanted to know more, so we tracked down lovely Simone to her showroom in Paris, and she let us know that she was thrilled; ‘After showing in London I was told she would be interested in pieces from the collection and I’m delighted she chose some pieces so soon after the show.

She also approved of Gaga’s choice of accessories, adding ‘I’m glad she accessorized it with mint green, there are highlights of green in the collection and I think it complements the off-white lace, very ladylike.’ We quite agree. We love that pale pistachio hair colour too!

Simone Rocha, daughter of the famous fashion designer, John Rocha, has got a particularly enthusiastic fan in Grazia Fashion Editor Sophie Ferguson Jones, who counted Simone’s show as one of her highlights of London Fashion Week. ‘Ooh, I just think she’s so clever with what she’s doing at the moment. She’s developed a style that is completely her own. You can see where minimalism comes into it – and straight, wearable shapes, like the white shirts. But then the materials she works with – making sheers look tomboyish rather than obviously sexy. She uses things like lace inserted into Perspex, she’ll throw in a bit of fluro to mix it up. I also love what she’s doing with accessories, like the high-heeled brogues, and the little lace wrist gloves placed in transparent shoppers.  When I went to her showroom in Paris it was absolutely rammed with buyers – she seemed to be doing a brisk trade. It was the same at her show in London – you could hardly get a seat in there. She’s getting very popular, especially since this is only her second season having a solo show.’  We were impressed with her collection for TOPSHOP recently and we’ll be keeping a close eye on her, for sure!
