So, although Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model has only just finished airing (again, well done to lovely Jade Thomson) and the US version is still in full swing, with their All-Stars season currently showing, Tyra Banks and her cohorts are not bothering to wait until this cycle has finished before starting to film the next season. Ha!
On Monday night in LA the girls for next year’s series made their first public appearance, and it seems that there’s a twist – brilliantly, the seven American contestants who are going head to head with seven girls from good old Blighty. Ha!
An unnamed source, (unnamed presumably in case Tyra immobilizes him/her down with a stray piece of weave) has revealed to ANTM obsessive ‘Tyra Obama’ on her fashion blog, that the girls ‘faced off in a runway "fight" taking turns making passes down the runway and fighting for a spotlight at the end. Our source said that the British girls were much more impressive than their American counterparts’.
Ha! Take THAT Tyra!
We love the sound of this – ANTM has always been the bigger, camper, louder sister to BNTM and latterly BINTM, and we trust Tyra and her crew to source some serious talent from the UK for this fashion face-off. Where Elle Macpherson and her UK posse version tends to find very pretty but slightly… wafty… girls for Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model, the US version is inundated by ferocious females who are seemingly willing to cut off their rivals arms in order to win, and will happily have a tantrum at the drop of a false eyelash.
So yes. In short - we’re excited. But are you?
