Arriving at the Grand Palais for the Chanel extravaganza this morning, Grazia Daily was feeling positively sea-rene. Why? Well, for his Spring / Summer 2012 show, Karl Lagerfeld created a breathtaking under-water world, complete with shells, rocks and coral all in white. WOW.
Of course, no octopus's garden is complete without a celestial harp, so Chanel thoughtfully provides one. And here's Ines de la Fressange amongst the whiteness sporting a chic black tux with blue cropped trousers and Chanel flats. Tres chic!
As the show begins, we're seeing gorgeous layers of chiffon in blue, coral and sea green teamed with white jackets floating amongst the aquarium decor. Yes, it's under the sea chic!
Each sea nymph has their hair slicked back and (almost) EVERYONE is wearing flats. Yes, really. Take a gawp at those sci-fi metallic booties with black zips up the front. Brilliantly bonkers, Mr Lagerfeld!
And LOOK who's appeared! Yes, it's the fiery-haired Florence Welch postioned in a clam while singing us a tune. Doesn't she look like a catwalking mermaid herself, swathed in glistening scales and monochrome tassles? We say yes. Of course, we're reminded of the moment when Lily Allen burst through a trapdoor and began singing her hit Not Fair during Chanel's S/S '10 show, remember? So could this mean Ms Welch is the latest muse to join the Chanel clan? As Blake Lively's bessie, we wouldn't be surprised...
Well, they certainly make a handsome pair! For the finale, Karl and Flo walk arm in arm amongst the parade of models, exiting through a bubbled arch way at the end of the catwalk. Bravo one and all!
