Just before the jet setting extravaganza that is fashion week Style Hunter was treated to a molto molto glam trip to home of George Clooney, Lake Como. Well, not ACTUALLY his house (although I did spy it whilst whizzing past on a speedboat – doors open, no sighting of the man himself but the local tour guide confirmed he was there which is enough for me). No, instead I enjoyed a very grand stay at the stunning Art Nouveau Grand Hotel Tremezzo - courtesy of under-the-radar label, Peridot London. The entire team were out there shooting the S/S’12 look-book in the breath-taking grounds and untouched architecture of this hotel and the famous Villa Carlota next door. Don’t know Peridot London yet? Well, Creative Director Rachel Wilson (an Aussie who has a very enviable wardrobe, a marvellous ability to shop, shop, shop and a fab fashion pedigree – she’s the great granddaughter of Ernest Asser the founder of classic shirting company Turnbull and Asser) was fed up with not being able to find the kind of luxe, perfectly fitted and tailored, trend-hitting but super-chic clothes she really wanted, so she set up her own brand! It started out as a demi-couture label but with a ready to wear line introduced we can all get a slice of her cute own-design prints, incred drapery and seriously flattering tailoring. You can check out the latest autumn/winter collection here. Bagsy the maroon jumpsuit!
Well, didn’t I have a hoot in Lake Como? Not to rub it in, but the speedboat picnic, dinner at Locanda (a mega restaurant on an island in the middle of the lake which has been serving up the same legendary menu of like, a million courses, since ’57), plenty of evening cocktails and a few sunbathing stints by the hotel’s floating swimming pool were just divine, darhlings. But of course, no trip of mine is complete without a bit of street style snappage. And when surrounded by a the ultra fashionable Peridot team, I just had to get the camera out and capture these last few looks of summer!
Lauren Burke, 20, works at Peridot HQ in Australia and has teamed up her silky Peridot blouse with some classic white cut-offs from Mink Pink, Havaianas flip flops and Chanel sunnies. See the hotel in the background? Isn’t it a beauty?
Peridot’s favourite model (she’s in the current A/W look-book as well as next season’s), Steff Roberts, 18, uses her Peridot shirt dress as a bikini cover up. Oh, and that bikini is from Victoria’s Secret and her big sunglasses are from Karen Walker.
Josi Smart, 27, Fashion Director at Mission PR (they represent Peridot) snazzed up her fluro orange dress with one of Rachel’s beetle-print silk scarves from the brand. And she colour matches the hotel’s awnings, which is very impressive.
Model agent Caroline Nankivell, 32, looked way cool in her Sportsgirl shirt (SO wish we had that label in the UK), Sass & Bide shorts, Nine West gladiators, skinny Peridot belt and vintage Carerra shades.
And then there’s Harriet Anderson! Peridot’s 24 year old PR & Marketing Coordinator looked impeccable each and every day – in fact, I’ve never seen someone so well accessorised or in supply of a perfect sundress for every occasion. Boat trip? She’ll have the nautical vibe covered.
Glam evening drinks? That’ll be a vintage cocktail dress, then. She even had a cute ‘60s look to change into for the airport – apparently it was her comfy travelling outfit and by this point it was getting embarrassing with me photographing her ALL the time, so I’m afraid I haven’t documented that particular look. Stalker alert! Here are three of her top outfits from the trip. Enjoy!
