Monday sees the Emanuel Ungaro Spring/Summer 2012 collection hit the catwalk, in spite of the fact that the label parted ways with former head designer, Giles Deacon, earlier this month without announcing a replacement.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Ungaro’s Chief Executive Jeffry Aronsson, who only joined the company himself in June, has said that he is intending to rely on the company’s team of 35 rather than installing another ‘named’ head designer. In his words: ‘I’m not looking for a big name from the outside, because I don't want the development of the brand to be dependent on a big ego’.
Currently, the brand is not stocked in any major US department stores, but Aronsson is confident that his new approach to Ungaro will see the brand enjoying a successful resurgence ‘I want the retailers to see this, that it's a whole new page’ he said. Check back here on Monday to see the Emanuel Ungaro Spring/Summer 2012 collection looks like!
