It’s Friday afternoon, it’s uber hot and sunny in the UK despite the fact we’ve all just bought a winter coat and we’re all wondering what an earth we can do this weekend, since our invites to Paris Fashion Week mysteriously got lost in the post. *cough*. Then as luck would have it, we were alertly by a cultural fairy Godmother to the fact that just under our very noses there’s an exhibition taking place all about London’s weird and wonderful ‘twilight characters’ i.e performers, uber clubbers and celebrities, all dressed up, and in some cases, very much in a state of undress – and all beautifully photographed.
The exhibition was curated by photographer Tim Bret-Day and Drag DJ and promoter Jodie Harsh, and will be on display for two more days, today Friday 30th September: 12pm - 7pm and tomorrow Saturday 1st October: 12pm - 8pm. The exhibition is open to the public, free to enter and in the BOND Gallery - 24 Kingly Street, London W1B 5QP.
What’s in it? Well, all human nightlife is there, from musicians and DJ’s, to actresses and performance artists, plus models, dancers and all manner of unusual extroverts, with the multi-sensory image featuring 100 characters rehearsing for their ultimate performance. Any you might have heard of? How about; Jaime Winstone, Lisa Snowdon, Sadie Frost, Margo Stilley, Mika, Jonny Woo, Bishi and of course Jodie Harsh as ring leader? That’ll do nicely.
It’s also multi-dimensional; graphic, video, audio - and can be found for this limited time in Kingly court, which is just off Oxford Circus, so if you fancy a break from shopping, to feed your imagination rather than your clothes collection, then look no further than this.
