Imagine, if you will, leaving the office one Monday evening and taking a trip to Topshop. So far, so normal. But after browsing through the rails and joining the checkout queue, you recognise the bouncy brunette waves of the customer in front. Could it be..? Surely it’s not..? But yes! YES, IT IS!
That’s right, dear readers, one lucky lady had the honour of queuing behind Kate Middleton, THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE! in Topshop, the Kensington High Street branch if you must know, on Monday night. The excited stalker fan peeked at Kate’s shopping basket (well you would, wouldn’t you?) and noted one pencil skirt, one velvet-trim jacket, and one pair of earrings. No sheeny tights and nude courts – say whaaaat?
In fact, Kate’s choices are quirkier than her usual modest fare. Because this ain't no taupe skirt – oh no. This one’s TEAL and covered in POLKA DOTS! We gasp. Has Ms Middy taken style-spiration from our web editor who sported the same trousers during London Fashion Week? Probably, the girl got taste. Oh, and the skirt promptly sold out on Topshop online, obvs.
As for the velvet-trim boucle jacket, it’s of the cobalt-blue variety (hmm, no surprises there then) and set Kate back a mere £65. One question: is it reminding anyone else of the Zara blazer Pippa wore post-Royal Wedding? This one's still available on the Topshop site BTW – in a size 16 only.
Finally, forget the Queen's fancy schmancy Cartier Halo tiara, Kate opted for a purse-friendly pair of round golden earrings, adorned with a feather motif. Chic!
But what was Kate LIKE? 'She was low-key and casual – she seemed so normal,' the Topshop staffer who served her told People magazine. 'She was really chilled out despite some customers in the queue behind her saying, "Oh my God, it’s her" and pointing – she didn’t seem fazed by it all and she was really sweet.' What’s more, not only did the Duchess USE THE FITTING ROOM, she WAITED IN LINE to pay and used a REWARDS CARD!
We’re literally breathless with excitement. Not least because this latest development is more proof that Kate is a top advocate of the British high-street. After sporting Reiss, Whistles AND Warehouse creations, we’re delighted to see her keeping it real with outfits us non-princesses can afford too.
So which shop will the Duchess be spotted at next? Grazia Daily is getting down to our local H&M to set up camp, like NOW.
