Alexa, we love you, Alexa, we do. You may not have made a FROW appearance at ANY of our London Fashion Week shows this season (boo), but for this we can forgive you. Why? Because you’ve given us this brills video to make up for it. Yes, more Alexa Chung for Madewell joy has landed and this one stars the style icon talking through her A/W’11 collection. From bin man chic to massive man pajamas, here are the Chungers’ fave pieces…
‘The palm tree dress is a bit of a curve ball but I’m really obsessed with palm trees and ice skaters and so this is an ice skating-palm tree hybrid. My favourite thing in the collection is the leopard print boots, which are sort of inspired by this Nineties pair of velvet boots.’
‘Then we’ve got our Jane Birkin dress. To be honest, most people do this kind of dress but I think ours is the best. You could probably get married in it, if you wanted to get married. If you don’t, then just wear it around and think marriage thoughts. My other favourite thing is the tartan mac. I really like the collar.’
‘This is a classic schoolgirl silhouette. I like the idea that quite an innocent, dorky skirt would come in leather because it’s the juxtaposition of innocence and sexiness, which is something that I struggle with on a daily basis. The mohair sweater is also a classic. I never like investing in clothes I don’t think I can wear beyond one week’s time.’
‘And then the ‘I’m serious’ tee was a sketch I did from home and we put it on a long-sleeved T-shirt that you can wear underneath things. Or in bed. Oh, and then the bin man coat. In England, the dustmen wear navy blue coats with leather panels and I really like how chic it is.’
‘I think the star of the show here are the palm tree silk pajamas, which is playing with lingerie as daywear, but my take on it is massive man pajamas as daywear, which is brilliant.’
Yes Alexa, it ruddy IS brilliant. We’ll take one of everything, thankyouverymuch.
