The new issue of the most considered, cerebral and elegantly presented of all the fashion biennials, The Gentlewoman, is to hit the newsstands imminently, and the internet is already all of a-flutter over the prospect! This season’s cover features the very distinguished actress Olivia Williams – that lovely posh lady who appeared in Hanna, An Education and once as the Prime Minister’s frisky wife in that suspenseful thriller The Ghost Writer, unless we are very much mistaken. Fab!
Additionally, a few pics of a lovely spread they have shot have leaked out by way of an internet teaser, of some London’s most important Fashion Editors captured in a seemingly unguarded private moment – applying their makeup on London Underground.
Even though Penny Martin – Editor in Chief of The Gentlewoman, Holly Shackleton, editor of i-D and Sophia Neophitou, founder and editor in chief of 10, AND the very fragrant Paula Reed, style director of Grazia, use the tube in varying degrees between them (the rather imposing Madame Neophitou admits she’s more often to be found zipping round West London in her 1969 Mercedes coupe – they have all been pictured on the line that represents their commute across London and the boundaries (geographic and symbolic) that the quartet of fashionistas have crossed over their time in London and careers in the world of fash.
What we want to know is – can WE get on those trains please, because our journey to work was armpit-nuzzle central this morning.
