If anyone knows how to throw a birthday party, it's Mulberry. Earlier this week, the quintessential British brand celebrated turning the big 4-0 in the midst of catwalk shows and FROW hopping with a swanky soiree held on an NY rooftop. Naturally. A-listers and gorgeous accessories abounded, music and margaritas flowed and a Seventies-style dance floor was rammed with sky-scraper heels.
Adorably, the theme was a children’s birthday party so while a balloon artist was making animal shapes for Anna Dello Russo and Alexa Chung (wearing the brand's trench with a mini Alexa satchel), fairy cakes were being served to Hollywood types including Maggie Gyllenhaal and Imogen Poots.
Meanwhile, the Kasabian boys and Kings of Leon's Jared Followill provided a rocker edge to all the fluffy kiddiness. We don't remember our birthday parties ever being this hip. >stamps foot<
ANYWAY. Solange Knowles arrived looking suitably playful in a printed number, which she teamed with the much-coveted Fox Lock Bag from the A/W'11 collection. And we couldn't take our eyes off Rose Byrne who looked super-sleek in a pale gold Mulberry frock with pleats on the neckline, accessorised with the very sweet Mini Taylor Pre S/S'12 bag in marshmallow white. As for Emma Hill, she was the hostess with the mostess, greeting her guests in a pair of fab leather trousers, worn with a black blouse and chic tux jacket and sparkled up by that divine jewelled Lily we've long had our eye on.
When the time came to remove our balloon hats and head home, we left clutching party bags, complete with 40th Mulberry badges and cute stickers. Grazia Daily has plastered them all over our London Fashion Week schedule already.
