And so it begins! Fashion Week season is underway in the Big Apple where, as we speak (type?), a gaggle of catwalk watchers and walkers are accumulating. So far, we've spotted our favourite FROW regulars - Alexa Chung and Anna Dello Russo, we mean you - as well as some perky newcomers - hello Lea Michele and welcome back Lindsay Lohan [above]. But how are their outfits shaping up, we hear you ask? Let's examine...
We begin with the ladylike ladies who bought a splash of prim old-school style to the typically edgy NY FROW. Lea Michele, Whitney Port and Sophia Bush opted for high-waisted skirts with modest hemlines and pointy heels. Lea’s perfectly coiffed hair and elegant accessorising was perfect for Jason Wu’s ultra-girly show while Whitney’s colour palette of greens with a dash of leopard print for the Luca Luca show hits the A/W nail on the head.
Next stop is the individualists. These unique ladies are known for marching to the beat of their own fashwan drum so it comes as no surprise to see Anna Dello Russo arriving at Wu wearing a wacktacular lilac creation covered in gold embellishments and Susie Bubble working her own take on granny chic with lashings of satin and brilliant multi-coloured heels.
Erin Wasson and Heidi Klum could be twins, no? It's not something we say often but here they are at the Richard Chai and Project Runway shows respectively sporting sultry tops slit to the navel plus sparkles on their lower half. Of course, the shoes are the defining factor - Erin's clumpy boots hint at her grungey style compared to Heidi's uber-glam aesthetic demonstrated by those black peep-toes.
But our FROW round-up wouldn't be complete without a little Chungster. Yes, the lovely Alexa was spotted nattering with fashion editor for the New York Times Derek Blasberg at the Cynthia Rowley show yesterday where she was joined by Lindsay Lohan and Leigh Lezark. She chose a black frock covered in a cutsey floral print with a cut-out neckline for her usual sweet-as-a-five-year-old fare. Adorbs!
So don't forget to stay tuned as NYFW continues to roll out enough star-studded FROWs to distract us from the catwalk (well, almost).
