Venice Film festival saw Kate Winslet’s style shifting between curve-enhancing body con and easy breezy tailored separates. Either way, she was a picture of self-assurance throughout, flying the flag for fellow powerful British females by choosing designers Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham. From black to white with shades of grey and nude in between, Ms Winslet made some sharp and confident fashion statements.
For her first photo call (top picture) Winslet wore a Helmut Lang Blazer over a pared down LBD, accessorized simply with a House of Lavande bracelet. Her two-tone Michael Kors heels added to the chic simplicity and saved it from being a bit ‘straight from the office’.
Later she raced home to - let’s be honest - spray on this super tight taupe dress by fellow Brit Victoria Beckham, ready for the premiere of her latest film ‘Carnage’. Worn with sparkly Jimmy Choos it certainly shows every inch of her perfect curves. The front of the dress featured a structured neckline and seemed perhaps a bit of a safe-bet, but the exposed rose gold zip running down the back gave it an edge.
And now for our favourite! Arguably showing up her younger co-star Rachel Evan Wood (who wore jeans) Kate was a hit in tailored shorts, proving that the only accessory needed to carry off this simple look is a set of perfectly toned pins. A lesson in the easy way to make tailoring cute and sexy, we’ll be copying her understated choice to wear all black and keep accessories to a minimum.
Kate’s premiere number two was a sartorial big finish. (And we’re not just talking about her chest!) This time it was the premiere of her mini-series Mildred Pierce, set in the 1930s. Grazia Daily has been following the remake of the original novel for a while, reporting on the meek and sensible costumes that Winslet sports in the series – so we weren’t surprised to see Kate break away from the look of her character by plumping for this sporty spray-on number. Everything about the outfit is a bit of a trick of the eye, from the side black panels which make her waist look teeny tiny, to the black YSL peep toes which give the illusion of longer legs. Keeping her hair and make-up simple she lets her body do the talking.
Here at Grazia Daily we’re divided as to which of Kate’s red carpet guises we prefer – separates or skin-tight? You decide!
