Kate Winslet AND Lara Stone as Elizabeth Taylor for V Magazine!

08 September 2011

It was only last week that Grazia Daily promised we'd be falling on anything and everything Elizabeth Taylor-themed as the big glossies pay tribute to the Hollywood actress who died earlier this year.

So far, we've coo-ed over Stefanie Seymour playing the much-married Dame for a spread in V magazine and remember Kristen Stewart sported a rock-chick leather jacket and massive bouffant combo in W? Well, now it's Kate Winslet's turn to pay homage by peering through pearls in imitation of one of the most iconic shots of Liz from her film 'Ash Wednesday'.

As well as those pearls (Chanel, sweetie), we j’adore seeing the Taylor trademarks see the dramatic black brows, heavy eyeliner and dainty beauty spot. And in recognition of her famous violet eyes, the purple 'V' runs straight through Kate’s. Brill skills.

Of course, Ms Winslet is a classic Brit movie star herself so we say she’s the perfect candidate to represent the lovely Liz, and with a shoot created by Mario Testino and Carine Roitfeld, it’s bound to be immense. Plus, what better way to hail the Hollywood hero than with her beloved jewels – lest we forget she was perhaps the world’s biggest fan of bling.

In fact, the shoot is for V Magazine’s 'Heroes Issue', which features ‘legends, icons, mentors and inspirations’. The Stefanie Seymour spread appears in the same edition, the fashion story sees Aymeline Vadale embodying Dame Elizabeth, as depicted in her famous portrait by Andy Warhol [above], and would you take a look at Lara Stone doing her own copy-catting by draping herself in diamonds and retro outfits [below]? How we love that pink wig for a modern update.

So yes, this is an ENTIRE. ISSUE. dedicated to the legendary Liz. What a gorgeous tribute. What do you make of the Liz impersonators?
