Aah, fans of Gaga growing impatient with her evermore outlandish attempts to out-Gaga herself like (in case you've forgotten!) balancing hair coils atop her bonce, dressing up in rubber inner tyres with no sleeves, dying her hair black, white and ginger all at once or dressing as a chap and bewildering the assembled company by growling away in an unintelligible husky-voiced rant and refusing to come out of character, even to accept her awards - you'll be pleased to learn that her latest moving-pictures-set-to-music endeavour is quite the pared-down presentation.
The song itself is a kind of wistful ‘80’s ballad, with Gaga’s powerful voice sounding husky but not subdued, with more than a touch of Bon Jovi-style riffs and a teeny hint of Tori Amos piano chords, while Gaga dances sweetly, and without much makeup –or any clothes other than a mini Courtney Love-esque negligee. Lovely. We bet her mum cried tears of relief when she saw it.
Sneaky show-off tip – the region of Nebraska where the vid was filmed, and the references to a ‘my Nebraska guy’ tie in with a certain Carl Luc, also known as Carl Lüc – her on and off boyfriend/fiancé and drinker of copious amounts of whisky and beer and fan, as Lady Gaga is of umlauts (the German accent made up of two dots above vowels).
The video was shot by renowned fashion photography duo, Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, styled by her right hand man Nicola Formichetti and with make-up by Val Garland. We demand to know your views on the scenario IMMEDIATELY in the comments box below! Please.
