New Zealand Fashion Week round-up! PART 2

02 September 2011

As we in the northern hemisphere await the start of our fashion calendar (the countdown has STARTED, people), those lucky guys and girls in the south have already begun to enjoy the new season's shows. Yeep! New Zealand Fashion Week, which is currently in full flow, is the first of the new season's fashion weeks and Grazia Daily has employed the services of Natalie Smith and Zoe Walker of fab blog somuchtotellyou to keep us updated on what's happening on the other side of the world...

Our friends at Lonely Hearts make cute, wearable clothes for girls who are a little bit wayward. This season saw delicious slouchy leather biker pants in black or chocolate; a continuation of their ever-popular shearling jackets; dresses with back detailing in navy and maroon silks; slouchy stripes across shorts and sweaters as well as printed cord in navy and cream. We loved the hair courtesy of Stephen Marr, slick and sweaty, pinned messily at the nape of the neck. Our favourite element was the lingerie, Lonely. Gossamer delicate lace bras in grey-blue and maroon, subtle corsetry elements and searing pink-red longline sporty bras.

At Jimmy D, the pentagram made itself known in lingerie strapping, across dresses and loose, long tees in seaming and print. Blacks, greys and a blood red were dramatic, clean and elegant – perfect for a modern pagan. We particularly enjoyed the delicate, subversive prints by artist Andrew McLeod – it’s the second collaboration between the designer and artist and we hope it continues.
