Every time Grazia Daily dons a riding boot this drizzly summer, we’re reminded of Natalia Vodianova sitting a-top a glossy stallion. Basically, since those shots of the jodhpur-clad model galloping across a wind-swept beach arrived last November, we’ve been doing our best to nail her horsey chic.
But the images weren’t for a high-fashion shoot or another Stella McCartney campaign – oh no. They were, indeed, for Natalia’s upcoming film, Belle du Seigneur. And with new stills released today, the world is one step closer to seeing the Russian beauty in her first ever leading lady role. Of course, her first cinematic flutter was for Clash of the Titans, remember? Nah, us neither.
ANYWAY. Thanks to the omniscient IMDb, we know that the adaptation of Albert Cohen's Swiss tale sees Natalia embroiled in a tortured love affair with a high-ranking Jewish official on the brink of World War II (ooh, it's gonna be a tear-jerker!). But what we didn’t know is that she’d look this ruddy gorgeous. Oh okay, we had an inkling…
In one shot, Natalia looks ridiculously loved-up snuggled in a fur coat and cosying up to Henry VIII Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, aka: the dashing Mr Darcy-esque hero.
And in another, those pretty features are scrunched into a suitably traumatised simper as she grasps onto her lover while wearing a navy hacking jacket with riding gloves. All those years of pouting are paying off...
And here she is on the aforementioned wind-swept beach in Camogli, Italy looking like the ultimate equestrienne. Charlotte Casiraghi, eat yer heart out.
But our ultimate fave has to be this one of her in an ivory brocade gown, looking like she’s just done a Julie Andrews and swathed herself in the household curtains. There’s something of the K-Middy about her, dontcha think?
So with Natalia flaunting her acting chops and Sasha Pivovarova’s cameo alongside Justin Timberlake coming up, be prepared for a Russian supermodel silver screen take over. We’re excited! Are you?
