Karl Lagerfeld Shoots Florence Welch for Japanese Vogue!

23 August 2011

Florence Welch boys-up for Unkle Karl!

If there are three things we LOVE in life then in must be these. 1 - Florence Welch the imposing singer of Florence and the Machine. A beautiful woman rocking an androgynous tailored look and 3 – anything to do with genius Renaissance man of our generation, Karl Lagerfeld. Therefore nothing could make us happier on this windswept dull and dismal day in London, than gazing at this portrait of Florence styled in a scarlet Chinoiserie -type tux jacket and mannish ensemble by Ralph Lauren, shot by Kaiser Karl for Vogue Japan (has ADR had a hand in this? We wonder)

Brilliant. We’re SO excited about this season’s mannish trends that we’re thinking of wrapping all our skirts and dresses in tissue paper and living in drainpipe trousers alternated with bovver boots, Dr Martens and Dalmatian-print brothel creepers all winter long.

*Falls happily into extended clothes daydream, staring out of the rain-streaked window*

Where were we? Oh yes.  Some people have complained that this shoot is merely Karl acting out more of his creepy, predatory fantasies by trying to turn everyone into his model human, Baptiste Giabiconi. We disagree, we LOVE the pics (although we love Baptiste too) and we think the end result is somewhere in between a mid-eighties Annie Lennox and flame-haired super supermodel Karen Elson.

Bravo Karl.
