When Pringle of Scotland announced their Archive Project a little while ago we immediately knew this could be a goody! A group of Central Saint Martins MA students allowed to snoop around the knitwear company's archive (196 years worth to be precise) could only result in amazing wooly jumpers and cardis and knit dresses good enough for a cup of tea chez granny's and, this being St Martins and Pringle, cool enough to sport around Grazia Daily HQ. The project officially launched today and needless to say, we were not disappointed one bit! How could we when Tilda herself (whom we would very much like to take round to grandma's for a cuppa!) features in the ad campaigns looking...well, pretty Tilda-mazing!
The project allowed students to research and catalogue the brand's existing archive, and organise a ‘day of record’ at the brand's Scottish Hawick HQ where members of the public brought along vintage Pringle pieces. Five Central Saint Martins students - William Hendry, Estefania Cortes, Viktor Smedinge, Yeori Bae and Timur Kim - delved into the archive and, under the supervision of Professor Louise Wilson, created a 12-piece capsule collection. Featuring many of the Pringle signatures we've come to love, like the cashmere twinsets (don't say no before you try it, have you even heard of Christopher Kane?), bright patchwork and lion motifs and we love them all!
A+ and a bright sticker for each of you from Grazia Daily, students!
