Following very nicely from this week's news that London has officialy overtaken New York as the fashion capital of the whole wide world (Global Language Monitor, you should have saved yourselves a whole lotta research and just asked us!), comes a string of announcements for new designer store openings in the capital and we couldn't be happier! First up, Paris darling Isabel Marant who will be opening her very first standalone London, and UK, boutique on Bruton Street, aka home of Stella McCartney and Matthew Williamson. Number 29 and 3,5000-square-feet, if you must know the numbers! The exact date has not been revealed yet so watch this space and in the meantime, start compiling your must-have lists. Let's face it, we can't have everything in the collection but if you add up the Eurostar fares saved then....oh, OK. Better start saving!
From Paris' darling to New York's and Helmut Lang. Greanted, Helmut himself is not involved in his namesake label anymore and is more interested in shredding his archival pieces (why, Helmut? Why?) these days but wife and husband creative directors Nicole and Michael Colovos have stayed faithful to the brand's minimalist identity making it a fashion insider's wardrobe must-have. Even better, we don't have to wait long as the 800-square-foot store on Westbourne Grove is set to open its doors on September 1st!
And last but so very not least, is this morning's news that the Angels are coming! Oh yes, people - Victoria's Secret ain't a secret no more. The American company plans to open not just one but two or three new stores in London before considering a nationwide expansion of 'mall stores'. Mall stores? How very American! We're only hoping that they bring their next show across the pond too so we can gasp and marvel close-up at how exactly do those Angels manage to strut their stuff and wear a pair of mighty wings! Anyway, a word of warning to our readers: the image below is very very pink!
