Is That Really You, Anne Hathaway?

We’re sure we’re not the only ones hyperventilating at the thought of seeing one of our best-loved books, One Day, finally hit the silver screen. The film opens on 27th August (that’s nine sleeps, people!) and to add to our hysteria, Anne Hathaway – the star of the movie – is  like, everywhere. Not that we’re complaining, of course.

You’ll have already read our interview with the actress in the latest issue of Grazia, where Anne reveals how she nailed that tricky Northern accent, and today, we’ve got a glimpse at her latest magazine manifestation – this time, for Interview.

Thus far, we’ve only been treated to the cover image [above], which teases us with a hint of a dramatic transformation. Seriously, she's barely recognisable – it's more beguiling Liv Tyler than bouncy Anne Hathaway, dontcha think? Because in place of that shiny Hollywood-tastic smile is a vampy black pout while those instantly-recognisable eyes are more seductive feline than wide-eyed doe. Covering them with a lace veil and framing her porcelain face with blood-red lettering only serves to amp up the goth factor. We. Love.

So it comes as no surprise to hear Anne's make-over is the handy work of one Karl Lagerfeld, a man famous for his love of monochrome elegance and fantastically alluring women like Amanda Harlech and Ines de la Fressange. Here’s hoping we won’t be waiting too long for the full shoot - we’re picturing breath-taking noir gowns, sultry lighting and more intense stares than an episode of True Blood. Because if there’s anyone who knows how to transform a Hollywood heroine, it’s Monsieur Lagerfeld.
