Grazia Daily revealed last week that the clever clever people at Kurt Geiger were launching an accessories collection – everything from rings and hairclips through to super slouchy suede clutch bags and giant embossed day totes (priced between £8 and £450). Well, yesterday, we went down to Mayfair to have a peek around the fab new Kurt Geiger accessories flagship store. And c’est amaze!
The store is super bling, not surprising when you consider that John Field, the London based architect who was behind Tom Ford’s Milan store, is the brains behind the operation. Think lots of dark mirrors, super polished gold fixtures and fittings and a giant shoe chandelier in the window.
Geniusly, the store avoids the high street trap of looking overfull by having a sample of each of the accessories on display in a perspex case, with a row of empty gold bubble-wrap bags behind – so you take the bag to the till and pay, rather than having to rifle through a load of necklaces which have become attached to each other.
Basically, what’s so smart about this is that you can spend £20 on a gift for a friend but will feel like you’re spending a lot more; it’s got the luxe factor at a high street price point. Our fave pieces are the pyramid cocktail rings in clear and purple tinted glass, the matt black studded clips and the soft, suede clutch bags which come in a selection of popsicle bright colours.
