And he’s a boy. Okay, we admit it – that’s not really breaking news, or any sort of news at all – we all know already that AP is the prettiest boy ever to don a wedding dress and sashay down the catwalk, but that doesn’t mean we want to stop talking about (and looking at) him.
Andrej Pejic is gracing the front cover of New York magazine’s Fall fashion issue, together with a story aptly titled "the Prettiest Boy In the world". For the cover Pejic sports nothing more than a liberal quantity of smoky eye makeup, and has – shock horror – his (incredibly high-up, no?) nipples on full show.
Pejic has gone topless before of course - for Dossier magazine - in a move which resulted in some furious Americans declaring that it was unacceptable, because he might be mistaken for a flat-chested woman, and that would not only be offensive to men everywhere but would also be offensive to women, and moreover it would undoubtedly send children into a tailspin of hyperactivity and set them on the path to ruin*.
ANYWAY. In the interview which accompanies the new New York magazine shoot, Pejic talks about ‘the situation’, the name he has given the confusion surrounding his gender, and says ‘I know people want me to sort of defend myself, to sit here and be like, "I’m a boy, but I wear makeup sometimes." But, you know, to me, it doesn’t really matter. I don’t really have that sort of strong gender identity—I identify as what I am. The fact that people are using it for creative or marketing purposes, it’s just kind of like having a skill and using it to earn money.’
And what a skill. The NY mag interviewer acknowledges that ‘If he were not a man, he would be the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in the flesh.’
