You’ll remember that waaay back in July, Grazia Daily alerted you to the fact that Lucy in Disguise, the super luxe vintage store from Lily Allen and her sister Sarah Owen appeared to have vanished. Well, this morning, Grazia Daily was exclusively invited to come and take a look at the brand spanking new store, where the lovely Sarah gave us a tour, saying 'we're so excited to be in our new store, complete with a new look, a new salon in a new neighbourhood! It's the perfect location and although we will miss the Covent Garden shop, it's all about Lucy on Lexington!'
Brilliantly, the new shop, on Lexington Street in London’s Soho, is completely covered in gold sequins outside, making it pretty easy to spot. Like the old shop, the new LID store is big on vintage design features – a chic sofa, lovely mirrors and an old school telly which plays classic movies on loop (today was Gentlemen Prefer Blondes).
The collections are split into areas – the vintage telly area houses the LID ready-to-wear collections, for instance. The more recent vintage finds (70s and 80s) are situated towards the front of the store along with the Lucy in Disguise candles (created with Agent Provocateur perfumer Azzi Glasser), and the older pieces (40s and 50s) are at the back with a gorgeous accessories cabinet.
Downstairs there’s a hair and makeup boutique run by Hair & Make-up Dept, with makeup by Becca and Natasha Devedlaka, and hair by Michael Price. As well as being past masters at vintage style up-dos, the hair and make-up guys also offer a regular cut and colour, and they’ve already been inundated since opening on Saturday.
The whole of the back of the store, as well as the hair and makeup area can also be booked out for VIP evenings - involving champagne, which sounds, to Grazia Daily, like a very good plan indeed. So for the full low-down on the new LID store, check out our chat with Sarah Owen below!
