Elsa Peretti's iconic sterling silver bottle pendant was one of the first designs she created for Tiffany & Co, a collaboration that has lasted decades, and resulted in a seriously covetable, tightly-edited collection of coolly modern, sculptural pieces, perfect for the chic urbanite.
The legend goes, the sterling silver bottle pendant was inspired by Peretti's visits to Portofino, Italy in the 1960s, where she saw beautiful women carrying gardenias. She wished to create a vessel that would keep the flower alive and sketched a design based on beautiful antique bottles, into which a tiny blossom could fit.
This summer the jewellery brand is launching a new collection of bottle-shaped pendants by Peretti, decorated with gemstones stoppers such as hand-carved turquoise (the perfect shade to show off a golden tan, FYI).
Just add a crisp white shirt...
