Week in the style of… Zoe Saldana

12 August 2011

It’s been a good week to be Zoe Saldana – she’s created fabulous out-and-about ensembles that have earned her a much coveted place on Grazia’s WITSO, scored a major trend-hitting moment at the Teen Choice Awards (putting all the teens firmly in the shade) and that raunchaaay cover of Flaunt magazine has boys and girls jaws dropping all over the place. So we’ve been trying to replicate her hotness, but alas, no joy. Yet. Maybe it’s the bad English weather, but we’re still hopeful in giving some of her sunny L.A. outfits a try on our turf: but what’ll it be? Urban Safari Saldana? Molten Metallic Saldana? Or maybe Sailor Saldana? Scroll and decide dear readers, scroll and decide…

(Top picture) As confirmed in yesterday’s Style Hunter post, silky jumpsuits aren’t going anywhere for autumn. Zoe sticks to chic safari tones - this one is by Bird by Juicy Couture and has a utility vibe for a stroll around Beverly Hills, but the splash of raspberry from her satchel automatically ups the fashion factor of such an easy-breezy look.

Doesn’t this dress remind you of the Pre-Fall ’10 Celine one Katie Holmes (so inappropriately) took to the red carpet? Yes, it’s much better on the street you’ll agree. Saldana’s is from Express and we like how she’s simply belted it, added Coach’s mini bag (which Grazia predicted only two weeks ago as one of the key pieces of arm candy for the new season) and some glam hoop earrings.

Disco inferno! Saldana looks every inch the Studio 54 goddess in this molten lamé Lanvin dress and clashing gold Alexander McQueen heels. We like a metal mix-up, so the combination of rose gold, bronze and silver in this one outfit is pressing quite a few of our fashion buttons.

Another slice of urban safari style from Miss Saldana. A first glance at her look - mini snakeskin bag, soft shirt, draped mini skirt and midi wedges – and it seems pretty laid back, but, there’s something about those aviators and a slick of lippy that bring this into well-put-together territory.

The slashed-to-there-ness of Zoe’s maxi dress doesn’t look OTT for the daytime – we reckon it must be down to the hippy retro print, flat tan sandals and nonchalantly slung-on belt. In fact, hipster belts like hers haven’t looked cool since about 2003. Do we spy a comeback on the horizon?
