Just WHAT would a Gareth Pugh wedding dress look like?

If you were a top stylist for magazines like Dazed and Confused and Another, trained in the job by Nicola Formichetti, and on first name terms with all the coolest designers . . .who would you tap up to make you a wedding dress?

Melanie Rickey and her partner both had custom-made Antonio Berardi looks on their big day, Emma Elwick-Bates, Vogue’s market editor asked Erdem to the honours. Stylist Katy England married her rock star fella, Bobbie Gillespie of Primal Scream in a pink and white candy striped Alexander McQueen number back in 2006, beating Kate Middleton to the choice by 5 years.

But Katie Shillingford, the waify, bleached-haired Fashion Editor at Dazed, went for the king of futuristic goth-ness, Gareth Pugh (top pic). We have to admit it’s not easy to picture her leafing through a pile of bridal titles with a frothy coffee in hand, and she was right to follow her instincts. The end result was a structured dress in a very soft material, bluish grey in colour with yards of fluffy grey train like a cloud.

As you might imagine, other top fashion contacts were drafted in to complete the bride’s look, Alex Box (God among makeup artists and the founder of Illamasqua) to do the makeup and Alex Brownsell, top editorial coiffeur and founder of kooky hairdressers Bleach did her hair and pinned her Stephen Jones veil in place.

We also spotted DJ Matthew Stone in attendance, while music writer and editor of PIX, Hanna Hanra was one of her bridesmaids in Craig Lawrence knitted dresses. Oh. . .blimmin heck! Even their wedding disco was cool!
