So, Tavi has started speaking in public about the magazine she will bring out with Sassy founder Jane Pratt. She said ‘You guys may know how I feel about Sassy. You also may know that I've been babbling about how I think our generation should get one, too. Jane Pratt, founding editor and then EIC of Sassy, also became aware, and emailed me, and we've met a couple times, and it looks like we're going to start a magazine for an audience of teenage girls.’
The idea behind Sassy, which was a kinda ‘90s phenomenon, was to be an independently published women’s magazine. Slightly bitchy, but ultimately friendly and subversive feminist version of what was available in the mainstream, like many defunct mags, it now occupies a special part in its readers and fans’ hearts.
She goes on to explain that due to things like the internet and all that, the magazine will be mainly online, with occasional print editions, and that they want all their cool readers/fans/followers to email them submissions and suggestions for the content. If you are an aspiring writer, photographer or stylist, this could be an opportunity for you! You don’t have to be a girl, or a teenager, Tavi assures us, the contest is open to everyone.
All the details are HERE if you think this is something you can get on board with . . .
