Giles designed the uniforms for Bistroteque 88!

19 July 2011

Lovely 88 waitress, Season, arrives for her uniform fitting with Giles

Quite fashionable? Like eating out? Then you might already be one of the very lucky ones who have got a reservation for a meal at the latest offering from trendy restauranteurs extraordinaire, Bistroteque – called 88. The name and the theme has been inspired by the year 1988 – the heyday of eighties fashion and excess.

To these ends the waiters and hosts will be variously decked out in  period clothes, from Katharine Hamnett to Thierry Mugler AND, best of all, Giles Deacon who has created some brand new uniforms for some of the girls in the spirit of the period. Giles, being the unstoppable creative multi-tasker that he is, has just finished at fitting one of the aforementioned waitresses, called Season (we told you it was glam) here in the studio!

Food will be provided by the chefs; Head Chef and Director of Bistrotheque, Tom Collins, and Head Chef of Blueprint Café, Jeremy Lee, which features dishes that are quintessentially 80’s with the Italian, River Café-influence that was so novel back then and remains jolly tasty today. As for a glam setting, 88 will be found in Canary Wharf (Heron Quay to be precise) clearly accessible by boat from Westminster Pier in London, on a champagne fuelled ride across the Thames –with lashings of bubby from GH Mumm (who are sponsoring the venture) on board.

As far as we know it’ll be sold out by now, but you could try RESERVATIONS
