On The A/W'11 Campaign Trail: Alexander Wang's eerie ‘image piece’

A/W'11 Campaign Alexander Wang

As today's campaign trail continues, there's one thing that keeps popping up again and again. No, we're talking leggy legs or cheeky cheekbones, although there are LOTS of those. We mean, of course, New York City. After an appearance in the A/W '11 ads for Dolce & Gabbana as well as (surprise, surprise) DKNY, the Big Apple also appears as a backdrop in Alexander Wang's latest offering.

But this ain’t your standard fare – oh no. THIS is uber-cool Mr Wang so rather than your regular campaign shoot, the designer brings us what he's calling an ‘image piece’. For its launch last week, the above video was projected onto buildings around NYC to suit the eerie horror film vibe.

Like the main still [top], the footage shows Raquel Zimmermann stomping through an abandoned Brooklyn factory to the beats of SebastiAn and M.I.A.'s "CTFO" while wearing a shredded black frock and being drenched in raindrops. Naturallement, Grazia Daily looked exactly this fierce in Saturday’s torrential rainstorm...

So what else will Wang have us wearing come the autumn months? We're already looking longingly at these grey cocoon-y jackets and heavy-ribbed knits, fur mania is still going strong and apparently, it's all about zips. Tough cool-girls, rejoice.

Stay tuned to this very page as we bring you more campaigns from Chloe, Gucci and Lanvin...
