Milan was obviously very quiet last night, because in addition to Dolce and Gabbana being in town, Roberto Cavalli also graced London with his presence in order to join Colin McDowell ‘in conversation’ at the Cavalli boutique in Selfridges.
Cavalli, in a nutshell, is everything you’d hope for – brilliantly glam (sunnies and mahogany tan) and totally outspoken, and as such the ‘in conversation’ - which was ostensibly about the designer’s life and career - covered subjects from the sublime (his helicopter, for instance, which he flies himself and is painted iridescent purple to match his yacht) to the ridiculous (‘I used to have a pet tiger…. But it hid under the bed’.)
Selfridges have very kindly edited the chat into this little vignette of a film, and to supplement, Grazia Daily has a video (possibly the shakiest film ever made, which we apologise unreservedly for and blame on an asthma attack) of our question to the great man: how, but HOW, would leopard-print loving Cavalli clothe shift-dress fan Kate Middleton? Watch below for his brilliant answer.
One final question: how does this man not have a reality show? Somebody sort it out!
