Prada / Miu Miu
Trust Miuccia Prada to keep us waiting. Balenciaga and Balmain, Givenchy and Gucci (to name but a few) have already delivered their Resort 2012 offerings and, over a month since the first drop, Prada and Miu Miu have finally obliged. So let's see what they've got.
Let's begin at naughty-but-nice Miu Miu. These balloon mini-dresses, playful pop prints and fuchsia tones are enough to make girlie-girls swoon (we're talking to you Hailee Steinfeld). But the preppy touches – from lace gloves to wool cardies – are jazzed up with a rock ’n’ roll vibe – see the sleek red leather miniskirt and layers of chunky jewels. Oh, and we well want that seafoam green purse…
Meanwhile, the Prada girl is full-on quirky. Taking a cutsey cardigan and pleated skirt twinset in sorbet tones, Miuccia mixed it up with blue John Lennon-esque sunnies and funky beret. Or the feminine silk crepe frock covered in bold florals that clash with a print foulard. And, like Miu Miu, lashing of black lace appeared on a flirty sheer dress clinched at the waist.
Fair play Miuccia, it was worth the wait.
