Kenzo A/W '11 collection
Kenzo, the Japanese via Paris label, are set for a change of personnel. Out goes Antonio Marras and in will come…Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, who are better known as the design brains behind uber-cool US brand, Opening Ceremony.
The company is owned by LVMH, and head of their fashion division Pierre-Yves Roussel, said, ‘Humberto and Carol will bring their fresh creative talent and innovative approach to Kenzo to rejuvenate this iconic brand…I am confident that they will leverage the unique contemporary and lifestyle spirit of the brand to position it ideally for an ambitious development.’
What on EARTH does that mean? That they will come up with some suitably pretty clothes which will sell more and make more money so they can open some new shops etc? Opening Ceremony are blinkin’ supercool, we agree, and we hope they will mesh well with the Kenzo ethos . . . they are not an obvious match but we think it's a good one.
One of their best achievements in New York was to draft in hipster Chloe Sevigny to come up with some duds for a range under her own name. Will they try and repeat the trick for Kenzo – and if so, who should they choose? Old hand Alexa? Up and comer Bip Ling? Rock chick Zoe Kravitz? Answers on a postcard please (or comments box below)
