Even though it’s sunny and blissful (some of the time, at least) outside, we fash types like to never live in the moment, preferring instead to constantly thrust towards the future. Thus we are admiring the A/W campaigns though it’s not even August and this is our favourite crop of the day . . .
We all remember Marion Cotillard’s spellbinding performance in the mini film for Lady Dior (seedy underground cabaret club and some seriously intense wheelchair lovin’ meted out to Sir Ian McKellen). Now the Christian Dior stills are out, shot by Mikael Jansson, and although extremely beautiful, sadly for us, they lack a ridiculously implausible location that we can wax lyrical about. So instead we say. Aaah. Very nice.
Loewe stars a Riccardo Tisci favourite, the model Mariacarla Boscono. We love the colours in this, and think it looks more like a painting than a photo. Well done Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott.
And so to Jimmy Choo, shot by Steven Meisel. This time completely devoid of brand founder, Tamara Mellon, (clothed or otherwise) but instead features a selection a boots and shoes so delicious they make you long for autumn.
Which is, after all, exactly the job of A/W ads. Shot in what could either be a posh furniture shop or a luxury hotel. Oh, wait a sec, there’s a maid in there. It must be a hotel then.
And last, in a strictly alphabetical sense, are an extended round of Versace ads, starring the glacial beauty Saskia De Brauw. As we’ve said before we LOVE the apocalyptic backdrop as envisioned by Mert and Marcus, and we like how they’ve pulled off those tricky handbag shots, while still making an interesting image. Well done one and all. See our gallery below for EVEN more!
PS - Tom Ford is going to experiment with a brand new invention called the internet. His ready to wear A/W '11 campaign will be going live on Facebook tomorrow morning before anywhere else...Stayed tuned to Grazia Daily on Monday for ALL the deets!
