Sure, Natalie Portman had to suffer for her art in Black Swan but we bet our tutus she’s glad she didn’t have to wear these! Granted, they are designed by Christian Louboutin and unique but try pirouetting in eight inch red soles, Mila Kunis! If however you think the world’s highest ballet shoes would complete your Louboutin collection or would look lovely displayed on your shelves then pay close attention. The shoes are up for public auction, aiming to raise money for one of the world's leading dance companies, the English National Ballet and as Monsieur Louboutin said, ‘Isn't the classical dancing ballet slipper the ultimate heel? The heel which makes dancers closer than any other women to the sky, closer to heaven.’ Bien sûr, Christian!
The English National Ballet aims to raise more than £50,000 as its Arts Council grant has been slashed by about £2 million and without fundraising it would have to curb performances and touring. So, for ballet and fashion enthusiasts alike, the auction also includes special creations by designers like Giles Deacon, Erdem and Roksanda Ilincic. Go ahead, bid and help the arts and if a slightly demented ballerina in weird make-up starts a bidding war on those Louboutins with you, calmly take another sip of your champagne and run for your life!
