As well as being a famous vegetarian ready-meal maker, Linda McCartney was a well-respected and hugely talented photographer before her death in 1998, and a new book – ‘Linda McCartney: Life in Photographs’ celebrates that work by bringing together a collection of her photographs.
In the video to accompany the book. Stella, along her sister Mary and dad Paul, talk about what it meant for them to curate the collection of Linda’s work, as well as how taking photographs was Linda’s ‘way of talking to you… And of representing her voice’, according to Stella.
Featuring (of course) the Beatles, as well as McCartney family snaps and Linda's 60s contemporaries like Jimi Hendrix, the book charts Linda’s encounters with the iconic characters she met as the wife of a Beatle. Stella puts it like this, saying her mother was ‘surrounded by such great talent, such great egos, such great personalities and it wasn’t her style to try and compete with that, I think that the way she brought herself into that conversation was through her photography’.
