Wimbledon + Fashion = the perfect match!

23 June 2011

Forget the wet wellie fest of Glastonbury for a mo because, in case you hadn't noticed, Wimbledon has begun! Thus far, other than Blighty's er, fine sporting talent on the courts, our Wimble-Watch has consisted mostly of umbrellas and anoraks instead of summery frocks and Mulberry bags - boo! So praise be for the tennis-related parties that have kept the fash pack busy after dark. Take Ralph Lauren's extravaganza on Tuesday night, par exemple…

And it's a white wash! The American label, famous for their preppy, sporty aesthetic, is the official outfitter for this year's championship so faithful tennis followers filled the Fulham Road store to celebrate. Sienna Miller looked delightful in this feminine ivory lace dress from the S/S '11 collection, teamed with clompy black boots and a matching shoulder bag while big sister Savannah and BFF Poppy Delevigne picked similiar Wimbledon white numbers. The clever girls have clearly been taking notes from that *ahem* fashion bible, Grazia Daily

Aside from Murray-mania, Hollywood-hysteria hit the courts when Kirsten Dunst stopped by earlier this week. Is it thanks to her role as a tennis player in 2004 film Wimbledon that she looks so at home, we wonder? Or is it just that brilliantly kooky wardrobe of hers? Either way, we're loving her printed frock, black blazer and shades combo, and clearly stylist extraordinare Leith Clark is too - she's wearing an almost identical outfit. Match point! or something…

Brooklyn Decker and Kim Cattrall also brought some A-list glam to the tennis tournament yesterday. As Andy Roddick's wife, actress-slash-model Brooklyn set up camp on the FROW to watch her hubby playing the net while Kim was out to support Venus Williams wearing a totes fabulous dark green biker (is she hiding a tennis racket in her enormous bag?). And OH MY WORD, is that Diana Ross we spy?!

Over in the Evian VIP suite, Dakota Fanning was living it up and looking as cute as pie thanks to more lashings of ivory lace + blazer action - clearly the look du jour, non? Click play on the video below to hear why the lovely lady fits in so well among the British tennis crew. We say it's a perfect match...ha!
