UPDATE: Kate might have employed the services of a personal shopper to help her select her outfits, but it seems she still likes to do some of the leg work herself. Kate was seen yesterday heading to the Alexander McQueen head office in Clerkenwell, London, with a garment bag under her arm. Which looked - from the blurry mobile phone pic that Grazia Daily has seen - to contain something red. OOoohhhhhh!
So, it’s the styling gig that everyone wants but Kate Middleton – we know – has decided to eschew the services of a stylist, in spite of the fact that she would have a stampede of the world’s top names on her hands if she ever wanted to use one.
But that's not quite the full story, because Grazia Daily heard this morning that Kate DOES have some assistance in getting her wardrobe together for her upcoming tour of the US and Canada - she’s utilising the services of the personal shoppers at Selfridges and Harvey Nichols – just like you, or Grazia Daily could.
A personal shopper is a very different beast to a stylist - whereas a personal shopper will usually work for a specific store, with appointments open to any Tom, William or Harry, a stylist will usually remain independent with more of a say in which clients they will or won’t take on, and thus is more exclusive.
Also, where a personal shopper will help you to pick out outfits under your direction, a stylist will be more creative and will direct your style (which is interesting in terms of Kate because it’s another mark of how confident she is in being able to style herself - confidence which is very well-founded, if her recent sartorial choices are anything to go by). Another thing which makes Kate’s decision to use a personal shopper seem a bit less random is the information that one of the lucky people she has decided to go to is the same person who does Prince William and Harry’s Christmas shopping.
Of course, Kate’s decision to head to luxury department stores Selfridges and Harvey Nics means that something else in terms of her upcoming Canadian and US visit - the Duchess’ wardrobe isn’t going to be entirely high street for her nine day tour. Grazia Daily is very excited indeed... Eep!
