It may feel sliiightly like it’s time for us to get out our winter warmer woollies out, but no! On planet fashion it’s still resort time, and the past few days has seen a slew of designers show their collections for resort 2012. So what will we be wearing for summer 2012? Well peeps, it looks like this:
For resort 2012, Alexander Wang was interested in ‘the idea of speed and things that felt fast, like competitive swimming and cycling’, the result being a super sexy sports inspired collection, with leather and mesh mini dresses, as well as Wang’s debut range of swimwear and sneakers.
Proenza Schouler continued with the western-y colourblock-y feel from their A/W ’12 collection, with wavy earthy hues, giant box pleat mini skirts, knitted dresses and chunky cardigans and just a hint of swirly 70s paisley for good measure.
King of prints, Pilotto, kept his first resort collection super sunny with shades of green yellow and blue, with enlarged foliage, jacquard and lace prints blown up and the deconstructed to create abstract mosaic motifs.
Diane von Furstenberg kept it poppy and bright for her Resort 2012 collection, with bold graphic patterns and neon brights, pairing a super louche version of those wrap dresses with tailored shorts, oversized knits and 60s shifts with asymmetric ruffles.
CFDA Swarovski award winner for womenswear, Prabal Gurung made like Henry Holland for his Resort 2012 collection, enlisting the help of rapper Rye Rye to showcase his sparkly, spotty and stripey resort collection in video form. We likey, but do vous?
