Happy Wednesday, frock watchers! For your Best Dressed fix of the day, we turn to the amfAR Inspiration Gala that took place in New York City last night and celebrated the work of dress genius Michael Kors and droolsome hottie James Franco.

Let's begin with the colour blockers, shall we? Both Chanel Iman and Heidi Klum opted for bright floor-sweepers with a thigh-high split – scarlet for Chanel and turquoise for Heidi. We can always rely on the catwalkers for some effortless elegance.

Girl about town Olivia Palermo looked as fabulous as ever in a silky polka dot frock with a pouffy dual-length skirt. We have a sneaky suspicion this dress is the very same Bensoni S/S '10 number that she purchased this time last year [above right], and which her TV twin, Blair Waldorf also wore on Gossip Girl. Hmm, does this mean Miss P has been doing some nifty DIY to keep the look fresh? There's no end to this lady's talents so we wouldn't put it past her.

Guests at the event were entertained by not only a performance from ballad belter Jennifer Hudson but also one from barmy rocker Courtney Love. Oh yes. The songstress took to the stage in this bridal-like white gown made up of lace tiers while J-Hud went less nightie-esque in a form fitting dress with long sleeves from Michael Kors' Resort 2011 collection. Doesn't she look fab!

Ana Matronic Scissor Sisters orange

Finally, our unexpected fave of the night is Ana Matronic. The Scissor Sisters singer may not a regular Best Dresser around these parts but we're bowled over by her vibrant orange frock with a halter-neck neckline and fluid flowing skirt. That plaited hair do may take a little more convincing though.

And so to the verdict! Have your say below, peeps…
