Carolina Herrera goes back to the future!

15 June 2011

Queen of sweeping red-carpet gowns, Carolina Herrera, has plumped for a rather novel choice of inspiration for her next advertising campaign – herself in 1970! Yep, just as so many women are tempted to use a photo of themselves in their youthful heyday for a passport of *ahem* internet dating – but of course this is something a little more special than that.

Not EVERYONE has an amazing house in Caracas in Venezuela where they entertain aristocratic fashion photographers like Norman Parkinson over leisurely lunches (the circumstances in which the portrait was snapped). So anyway. From what we can gather, it won’t be the exact portrait of the designer, but rather that the current photographer, US Vogue Stalwart, Patrick Demarchelier, has taken inspiration from the black and white portrait to present model Sigrid Agren in a comparably relaxed pose. What do you think of the two images?
