Have we mentioned that the CFDA Fashion Awards are taking place in New York TONIGHT? Oh, we have? Well, that's because we are seriously stoked. Not least because tantalising details have been spreading throughout the blogosphere in the build up to the annual gala, hinting at what we can expect to see come tomorrow morning.
What we do know is Lady Gaga will be picking up the Fashion Icon Award for being a 'fashion revolutionary impacting style today' (uh-huh), Marc Jacobs is being honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award (woot) and the red carpet will be rolled out to accomodate a zillion gorgeous gowns (YES), so, naturallement, Grazia Daily is wondering who'll wear what. And that is why we've popped our Fashion Psychic hats on to get the dress predictions rolling...
Let's begin with Sofia Coppola who will be presenting Marc Jacobs with the aforementioned accolade. As you know, the esteemed director is Marc's muse so we have every faith she'll do the designer proud with one of his own creations. Louis Vuitton's brilliant A/W '11 collection was packed with lace-up leather fetish gear, but - seeing as Sofia is known for her restrained rather than kinky wardrobe - we're putting our bets on this snazzy blue number clinched by a waist-defining belt for a ladylike yet funky result.
Do you remember when Kirsten Dunst rocked up to Patrik Ervell's FROW during New York Fashion Week earlier this year wearing a full look from the menswear show? Well, the kooky Kiki-D is set to be Mr Ervell's guest at tonight's event, making us wonder whether she'll go the androgynous route once again with a cotton suit, tailored of course, similar to this pastel number from the designer's most recent collection. It's totes Chace Crawford chic, non? And it'd certainly make a refreshing sight amongst all the floaty chiffon...
And from tomboyish quirkiness to full-on glamazon, we look to Michael Kors and his sporty yet sophisticated all-American aesthetic (think Blake Lively at last night's MTV Awards). We're reliably informed that Ashley Greene is Kors' date and we think this is the perfect fit - after all, the Twilight star is all toned, tanned thighs and glossy hair a-go-go with a penchant for sexy styles. Step forward this fluorescent pink gown, hot from the designer's recent Resort 2011 collection. The bright colour is very OTM, the sleek silhouette is suitably elegant and that up-to-there slit provides a dash of raunch. What could be better?
Lucky old Liv Tyler will be rolling up on the arm(s) of Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, aka the hot Proenza Schouler boys, so we're envisioning something ridiculously hip but Hollywood-worthy, like the sultry red and black floor-sweeper which Kristen Stewart wore to the Met Ball, par exemple. Or perhaps something along the lines of this artful velvet frock from the A/W'11 catwalk.
If anyone can make minimalism sexy, it's Kerry Washington, so how fitting that she's Francisco 'Calvin Klein' Costa's plus one. This S/S '11 dress may be a tad looser than the usual curve-clinging fare Kerry's used to but the plunging V-neck makes it sensuous in a more simple stylee.
Last but by no means least is Chloë Sevigny who'll be partying the night away with MAC Cosmetics. Although this doesn't hint at what frock she'll be wearing (unless she goes Gaga and opts for a dress made of er, lipsticks?), we're guessing it guarantees a splash of bright colours on her pretty little face. Chloë's known for working a bold orange lip but we'd love to see her mixing it up by going for some striking eye makeup and, of course, layers of lashes.
Well, folks, we can speculate all we like but only time will tell, right? Luckily, there's not long to wait for the answers, so don't forget to check back here tomorrow morning for the full frock-a-thon. All together now: EEEP!
