A Month in the style of Penelope Cruz

27 May 2011

After getting married to Javier ‘dishy’ Bardem and popping out a sproglet, Penelope Cruz has been in hiding and we’ve seriously missed her. So yippee for the month of May that’s seen our favourite Spanish senorita back on the red carpet rounds for the latest Pirates Of The Caribbean installment. In the past twenty days or so, she’s clocked up a fair few air miles and many a gorgeous gown along the way, including a touch of Givenchy and a couple of Armani beauties too. Oh, and the addition of a certain Johnny Depp to accessorise your every outfit obviously helps. So Pen, let’s see what you got…

Staying true to her signature style, the style marathon began at the film's World Premiere in LA when Penelope was the picture of sophistication in a stunning off-the-shoulder gown by Marchesa. Adorned with feathers and crystal details, it’s a dramatic opener, don’t you agree?

For London’s blue carpet, Penelope went super sassy in a white embroidered dress from Riccardo Tisci’s A/W ’10 couture line for Givenchy. We like the straighter hair ‘do very much. What more can we say than ‘shiver me timbers!’

Ah yes, how we LOVED the organza Armani Privé gown Penelope rocked for the Munich premiere, bringing a bold splash of crimson to her monochrome oeuvre. The long sleeves, swept back hair and subtle accessorizing ensure she avoids shiny Christmas bauble territory. Bravo!

Stepping out in Moscow, Penelope sported a velvet frock from Emilio Pucci’s A/W’11 catwalk. Admittedly, the oversized bow around the neck makes this one rather matronly, but perhaps she’s been inspired by all that pirate garb?

Oh, now this is cute. Hopping over to Madrid, Penelope mixed it up with a navy pocket jumpsuit by Hakaan, accessorised with a smattering of Chopard jewels. And at the evening shindig, it was another Armani Privé number, this time in a classic Spanish stylee. You may be getting deja vu but no one rocks a lacy black gown quite like Ms Cruz.

Last but by no means least, Penelope’s Marchesa gown covered in tufts of tulle could’ve turned into a frou-frou nightmare but the pared down accessories and chic up ‘do keep the feminine look in line. This is how to do Cannes glam, ladies!

So how do you rate Penelope’s parade? Is she Cruzing through Best Dressed territory? Or should she walk the plank for her fashwan crimes? (ho ho!) Pop your thoughts in the box below…

PS. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is in cinemas now!
