You’ll remember we were pretty jeals when we heard Lindsey Wixson trotted off to her prom in a dress custom-made for her by Jason Wu. Well, now we’ve turned pea green with envy at the sight of this lucky 17-year-old who got her mitts on a Versace gown last seen on the red carpet. At the OSCARS >gasp<
Oh yes, last week, Kayla Staskiewicz from Michigan glided to prom wearing the very same twinkling couture dress that Christina Ricci wore for the Academy Awards in 1999. Embellished with tiny crystal beads and worth a whooping $25,000, the pale grey gown is a teeny size zero so after ten other girls failed to squeeze into it, Kayla was the one who fit the bill. Talk about a Cinderella moment! But it was her Dad - not her Fairy Godmother - who she has to thank after he entered her into a TV contest to win it. What sweetness! And what a clever way to avoid any Who Wore It Best contests by regurgitating it over a decade later – we just hope there weren’t any punch-related spillages on the night…
So here’s a fun game: if you could win an Oscars gown fit for a prom queen, which one would it be? The pink Ralph Lauren number that Gwyneth Paltrow wore to pick up her Academy Award in 1998, perhaps? Or maybe Bjork’s Marjan Pejoski swan er, creation? Grazia Daily has already bagsied Cate Blanchett’s Givenchy number, FYI. Tell us which is your dream dress below!
