SNEAK PREVIEW: Karen Elson's vintage-inspired line for Nine West!

09 May 2011

Karen Elson, modelslashsingerslashactress has announced that she is set to tie another string on to her already pretty well-adorned bow, by teaming up with Nine West on a range of accessories for the Nine West Vintage America Collection, launching in Autumn 2011. Yeep!

It's no secret Grazia Daily has adored the flame-haired model ever since she did the mother of all stumbles at the British Fashion Awards 2009, falling A METRE AND A HALF off the stage and into the orchestra pit before insisting on coming back to present Grace Coddington with The Isabella Blow Award. What a trooper! We love her all the more for being the wife of music supremo Jack White, who handily helped her make The Ghost Who Walks, the awesome bluesy album which well and truly sealed our girl crush.

As for her sartorial swishes, Elson literally has style oozing out of every pore. At the Met Ball last week, she looked beyond glam in a gold shredded gown with a draped back from Alexander McQueen's S/S '04 collection (her fave catwalk show of all time), making her one of the lucky few to get her mitts on an archival piece created by Lee himself. And thanks to that signature red mane and porcelain skin, a zillion copycats have reached for the henna (hello, Blake Lively and Drew Barrymore). Oh, and did you know she's got her own vintage store in Nashville? Yup, there's no end to this little lady's talents.

And this is why we're super excited to see her Nine West line. Made up of shoes as well as jewellery and handbags, the sneak preview above shows the range is destined to be Kate Moss-esque, reflecting the kind of vintage aesthetic that Elson has become famous for. 'My dream of designing a collection that's a true reflection of me has now come to life through this collaboration,' she told WWD, revealing that she was inspired by Thirties Dust Bowl and burlesque dancers, with T-strap wedges, velvet laced boots, ladylike handbags and charm jewellery a-plenty. Nine West creative director Fred Allard describes Elson as 'an otherworldly beauty and modern muse'; 'I was not only inspired by her music, but also by her powerful personality, attitude, allure and undeniable talent.' Well, we couldn't have put it better ourselves. So why not join the Elson love-in with this commemorative gallery of her impeccable taste in all things fashwan...
