Prepare for a sharp intake of breath: Olivier Theyskens thinks Crocs could be from the future.
Well; KIND of. Theyskens, head designer for Theory and the subject of rather an unseemly crush by at least one member of Grazia Daily, spoke to Interview magazine about the bright-hued footwear saying (on the subject of futuristic movies and fashion) ‘the only shoes that look futuristic are Crocs, but they would be terrible to use in a futuristic movie’. The ONLY thing, Olivier? What about McQueen’s armadillo shoes?
Anyhoo – Theyskens was speaking to costume designer Milena Canonero and also revealed that ‘I would love, just once, to do costumes for a movie’ but feels it would be ‘very different from what I am used to doing as a fashion designer’. We would LOVE to see Theyskens design for a movie – can you imagine his beautiful, gothic creations being used on screen? It would be like Rodarte/Black Swan to the power of ten. And it would ALSO give us another reason to write about him, which is no bad thing.
